have got up this morning to find noodle's eye all stuck together with a sort of yellowy junk, bit swollen, i've used warm salty water with a wool ball to clean it and am now anxiously waiting for vets to open, should be someone there at 8, well receptionists anyway, was a bit runny last night but nothing like this, how do they get so bad so quickly? anyway its not affecting her ability to eat or anything or seems to be bothering her too much, come on vets hurry up and open. she hasn't banged it i don't think so its probably conjunctivitis, could it be from last weeks beach trips maybe?

poor Noodle, it does sound like conjunctivitis. My bridge baby Beckie used to get it quite a bit, she had dry eye.

Eyes do get bad quickly but they clear up quickly too, with the right treatment. I'm sure Noodle will feel better soon but give her an extra :petdog: from me in the meantime.

Salt water bathing is great to get things unstuck. We keep Brolene in the house (OK In the fridge, cool drops are very soothing for sore eyes) for human eye infections and even if it doesn't clear them up, it's great for stopping them in their tracks until you can get to an optician. I believe it's OK for dogs too.

Poor Noodle.

Sasha gets conjunctivitis from time to time and we self treat with cooled tea. It clears it up within a few days.

My pointers get conjunctivitis fairly regularly from running through dense undergrowth and brambles. My vet lets me keep some eye ointment at home so I usually put some in straight away and take them to the vet the next day so they can do the dye test to make sure there are no scratches. The last time Arthur had a sore eye we were away and I just put the ointment in and delayed going to the vet for a couple of days until we were home. Never again. Poor lad had a thorn stuck in his eye

Well it is conjunctivitis, she puts some green dye in and no sign of a scratch or damage, she gave me some fucitherm stuff to put in twice a day and a longer lampshade as one I had was a bit too short and her comfy collar one is no good, poor noodle she looks like someone has socked her in the eye! Anyway I'm £45 worse off now but tough, she's more important
,its amazing how much you worry about your dogs.

Be very careful about your hygiene while this is clearing up. Wash your hands before and after (and use paper towels or kitchen roll to dry if poss as this could cross to the Hoomans), use new cotton wool pads each time, and bin immediately. Don't cross-contaminate the other eye ... it's very easy to do!

Sounds good :goodjob:

I was advised by an infection control nurse that with things like this it was really important to clean the tube and squidge a bit of cream out and bin it before treating. Just to make sure you were reintroducing any infection.

Thanks I've been really careful, washing hands all time, new bits of cotton wool for washing then drying her eye plus have made sure tube tip was nowhere near her eye so hopefully she'll be ok now.
