I was just reading the Battersea site on BCs and it says this: "Collies with lighter coloured eyes are often more independent, preferring the company of their owner and immediate family." I've never heard this before. Is it true or is it a myth? If its true, why would that be? My own dog has dark eyes. I feel he doesn't have the "edge" that some - particularly female - collies I know have. And he has a softer look on his face. BUT I think that has happened over time. He used to be extremely wired. He is still uber-bouncy and playful, just more relaxed and happy and less of that hard stare now. Although he still is obsessed with chasing and balls and games. I cant quite describe the harder look that I see sometimes. He was always more shy - though not a submissive dog. A little reserved. Again, I feel he is a lot more affectionate and more and mroe so as he gets older. Although this could also be him feeling more and more secure happy and less anxious over time. He was very anxious for a long time at the beginning and didn't hang out with us so much. Now he likes to be with us nearly all the time even if just to have a snooze. I dont' have many eye colours to think about as I probably know only dark brown eyed collies who all seem to have slightly different temperaments. I have noticed a few very bossy collie bitches who don't suffer fools. But I also know some lovely dopey bc bitches too. But I think I know more bossy female collies than males. But I don't know about eye colour. |
