Water bowl management; Any bright ideas?

We are struggling with water bowls...

6 down in total. Oh and a washing up bowl outside too. All 6 changed at least twice a day, more if I walk past them. Some on the floor, others at varying heights.

But I have four dogs who just will not drink water if it looks even vaguely dirty. And I have an Irish Wolfhound who makes the water completely filthy. Not just after he has eaten but at all points. He does the rounds of them and I worry that the others don't drink enough :(

Anyone got any bright ideas

Same problem but only three bowls in the house and one outside. Rosie Rottie comes to look for me and woofs if the water is not up to her very demanding standard. I will watch with interest to see if anyone comes up with a solution.

Strange, I have the opposite issue.

My lot will drink any water that is filthy, outside in hollows in the trees, all the mud that has water in it, any muddy puddle, plantpots that have standing (=yucky) water. Oh and ofcourse the water bowls, in the house, that are regularly refreshed and they will drink out of those, but only if they cannot get out in the garden that has something better to offer!!

That first one looks good. But would be pretty much useless at this time of year in the frozen wilderness...

All the water fountains I've seen have been too small for a Wolfie or their longer term reviews say they bung up and get disgusting. I've sort of discounted them but maybe I shouldn't :dunno:

Could you put some sort of a cover on some of the bowls, big enough that the others can get into but too small for the beast.

Although I do have visions of Douggie getting himself stuck. :petdog:

I wonder how quickly they get bunged up? I am thinking that maybe some people just have unrealistic expectations ...

Or something other dogs could go under. Who are the clean water fetishists?

Clean water ones are... Sid, Moo, Poppy, Del. Thuggie lifts things up (like sofas to get his ball) so I'm not sure that will work. Reviews of the doggie households say cleaning every day, filter lasts a week, unit dies in 3 months.

Shame it couldn't have been all of the smaller ones, that might have been easier  The only other thing I can think of is giving him his own water at a height the others can't reach and making it special somehow

I know. No theme going on is there  I'd build a wall to solve this one.

He has his own bowl by where he eats. It is up high but the bloomin ancient whippety Sid managed to drink from it earlier! I've no idea how to make it special to him without everyone else getting in on the act :dunno:

For some reason this thread has prompted thoughts of the kind of cat litter trays that are completely enclosed (except for a space for getting in, obviously) but with a lift off top.

Do you have anything that the clean water guys can get into but Thuggie can't? Or a corridor that's wide enough for them but not for him? Building a wall might not be such a bad idea....

He is a bit of a bulldozer (and not quite so thick as some of the others) and has happily eaten cat poop whilst lying on his back with his head in a covered litter tray! Now you really see why I need to deal with the water bowl issue..

I am going with the wall thing!

Am watching this with interest. Kiz refuses to drink water that boys might have drunk, so I have a similar problem, and I have two cats who refuse tap water...

:bash: oh no i can just see curly with that he'd constantly be pressing it just to squirt himself with water! he is absolutely loopy if you run the hose, attacking it getting wet through, then again he's mental when it comes to running water of any sort he just can't resist it.
