My darling dumb ass dog Harvey has managed to rip the whole nail cover off one of his back paws leaving the quick fully exposed. One bloodbath and vets visit later, he is armed with 2 weeks of antibiotics and had to keep the foot dry and clean. Can anyone please recommend me a waterproof dog boot that I can obtain fairly quickly to fit a labrador. Personal recommendations only please. Thank you |

I have some neoprene ones which worked well enough for me. Bought them off eBay with no brand, just the word "Walker" on the front, but a friend borrowed them and bought new replacements (might have been from PAH, but almost definately in a shop rather than online) for me as her dog scuffed them up, and they were in packaging branded Trixie I think. Fairly cheap and not 100% stay-on-proof but did the job well for the price Google "neoprene walker dog boots" and they come up Edited by pangolin, 14 Jan 2013, 11:21.

I shall refain from making a comment about the antibiotics when there is NO infection But the best thing for an injury. Go back to your vets and ask for used drip bags. Cut slits in the top and stick a bit of stretchy bandage around. You can pad the inside out with bits of fleece or wadding if needed but just to keep dry the bag will do a fab job. Seriously, they work much better than any boot for an injury. |

If you give antibiotics where there is no actual infection you increase antibiotic resistance. Which is clearly not a good thing. |
