10 Year Old Boxer 'Jade'; Losing weight

Hi

I have a 10 year old Boxer girl who seems to have lost a lot of weight in the past year (since my mum passed). She has gone from a overweight Boxer to a lovely slim girl and looks lovely.

I am worried she has lost far to much weight, She is still eating and drinking properly but does seem hungry all the time, although sometimes she is not interested in food first thing but always eats a little later.. She is active (when she is not sleeping) and seems a happy girl with a very shiny coat, but I just cannot understand why she has lost so much.

Should I see how she goes or should I get her to the vet, your advice would be very much appreciated.

Thank you..

What is she fed?
What is her general condition like?
Has her exercise with you increased?

Have you tried just upping her food a little to see if she maintains weight?
I'd also recomment weighing at the same time of day on a fortnightlu basis so you can keep track of things properly.

But if you are worried then vet check.

I'd get the vet to check her over if you're worried at all, weight loss despite eating well can be a sign of various things such as thyroid problems or diabetes, and as she's a senior girl it's worth getting a general checkup every so often anyway so if she does get anything wrong with her you can catch it early :)
